Congratulations on your new baby!

As new parents, I’m excited to begin an amazing adventure with you —your baby’s first year. And while it’s filled with first smiles and first steps, it’s also filled with lots of questions. Thank you for choosing me to be your partner in caring for your baby’s health during this exciting first year and beyond.

In the coming weeks, your baby will begin to follow slow moving objects with his eyes and turn his head in the direction of voices he hears. He will even begin to distinguish between things he sees. Your face. His fingers. Sharp, contrasting patterns. And all of these incredible developments are linked to your baby’s nutrition. So first feedings really do last for years to come.

It is important that your baby receives a balanced diet that has carbohydrates, fats, proteins, plus other essential nutrients—like vitamin D—for his development. After all, in the first month of life, he will grow at least ¼ inch a week.

In this blog, we will talk about the different feeding options you can choose to make sure that your baby gets the right nutrition. We will also go over how to take care of your little bundle of joy when you come home from the hospital. Whether it’s caring for the umbilical cord, talking about sleeping or knowing when to call your pediatrician’s office, it is my hope that these tips help you feel a little more prepared for the coming months.

Together, we can make your baby’s first year a happy, healthy one!
